The application allows users to monitor the Air Quality Index (AQI) through their personal PurpleAir sensor via their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. The interface is straightforward, offering the option to add a widget or complication directly to the Home Screen or watch face for ease of access.

It is important to note that the app functions only with sensors on the same Local Area Network (LAN) as the connected Apple device.

To set up the application:

1. Establish a connection by linking the app to the device. This can be done either through a device search or by manually entering the sensor’s IP address.
2. Add a complication or widget from the app to your Home Screen or watch face for quick reference.

Data sharing between an iPhone/iPad and the corresponding Apple Watch is facilitated through the following protocols:

1. The sensor address is shared in both directions.
2. If one device recognizes an address while the other does not, opening the app on the device lacking an address will automatically copy it from the paired unit.
   • Should this transfer fail to occur within a minute, it is recommended to close the app on both devices and restart them.
3. Modifying the address on the iPhone/iPad will update it on the watch.
   • Conversely, changing the address on the watch will not affect the phone unless the phone lacks an address.
4. The most recent data sample is transmitted from the phone to the watch if both devices are within range, irrespective of address settings.

In terms of air quality monitoring, users can view PM2.5 levels along with a "120-second average refreshed every 10 seconds" on the sensor's integrated web page. The app averages data from channels A and B, specifically utilizing the pm2.5_aqi and pm2.5_aqi_b fields from the JSON API. Users can also verify this information by accessing http://device_address/json via a web browser.

The application refreshes AQI data roughly every 15-20 minutes or when launched afresh or when restarting the watch. Note that updates to widgets and complications may take longer upon reconnecting to a network. For devices running iOS version 16.4 or higher, refreshing can be achieved by pulling down on the screen within the app.
